May Event –Straight Eights Excursion to St. Michaels, MD

Thanks again to member Brian Routhier, we have another fabulous eastern shore junket planned in St. Michaels, MD, on Saturday May 19.We've invited surrounding LCCI regions as we did in 2016.
Brian has coordinated a visit to the Classic Motor Museum of St. Michaels.

The museum visit will be followed by a waterfront lunch at the St. Michaels Crab and Steak House.

There will be time in between for touring the town on your own.

The tour of St Michaels will end with a tour of a private car collection housed in a pair of whimsically themed car barns.

We'll start by joining the Classic Motor Museum's "Cars and Coffee" in the morning.

For those who are not early risers, you can arrive later. Once there, we can park and mingle with the locals, and tour the museum (admission is $10, on your own, which includes parking for the day). There will be time for you to stroll through the charming town and hit the local shops. Our group lunch at the St. Michaels Crab and Steak House (on your own dime) is a short walk away. After lunch, we will walk back to our cars and depart for a 15-minute scenic drive to a 165-acre waterfront estate in Royal Oak, MD, where we will tour a pair of stables converted into themed car barns, which include a saloon, gas station, and frontier town. The cars range from the 1930’s to the 1970’s. Due to security and privacy concerns, we will provide the address/directions directly to those who RSVP/attend.

For those interested in driving as a group, meet at the Davidsonville Rd. Park and Ride off RT 50, exit 16 in Maryland. We will depart this location at 8AM, so plan to get there early! If any Virginia folks wish to organize a caravan, please let Lou know and he will publish it to the group.

About St. Michaels
St. Michaels is a charming waterfront town along the Miles River on Maryland’s Eastern Shore (Talbot County). It is located just 40 minutes south of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge off of Route 50.  We anticipate this will be a pleasant drive, as it is pre-season.  There is the chance of some congestion once headed into town, but there is a back-way to the museum we can take to potentially bypass any issues.

There is no official host hotel, but we have some suggestions for anyone who wants to spend a night or two. All such arrangements are on your own.  However, if there is significant interest in a group gathering for dinner (based on your RSVP responses), we will coordinate a dinner with a local establishment.  Be warned that there is another event in town that weekend, so vacancies might be limited.

In St Michaels: The Parsonage Inn, The George Brooks House.
In Oxford: Oxford Inn, Robert Morris Inn, The Oaks Waterfront Inn

St Michaels Inn, St Michaels Harbor Inn, Hyatt Regency Cambridge, Various chain hotels on RT 50.
